Home Information Packs

Following the confusion surrounding the introduction of Home Information Packs, the Government have postponed their implementation until 1st August 2007. The problem stems from the number of Domestic Energy Assessor’s (DEA) that would be available to undertake Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) on the original start date of 1st June 2007.

Whilst the are currently upto 3000 DEA’s in training only about 500 have been accredited, which would have left the market short and delayed the HIP process significantly. Currently from 1st August any 4 bedroom and larger properties will require a HIP including the EPC, but you will be able to market the property as soon as this has been ordered, rather than waiting for the full HIP to be prepared.
